Kerriann Speers is a fiction writer and poet who lives along the North Coast of Ireland, where she has learned a lot about creative writing. A graduate of Ulster University, Kerriann has a degree in Journalism and Publishing Studies and has attended innumerable workshops on the subject. But mostly, she has read a lot of books on writing and spent more than her fair share of time writing. This site is a way to share any wisdom or nugget of information Kerriann has gleaned along the way.

Kerriann Speers has wanted to be a writer since learning to read and until recently wrote only for herself. In her teens, Kerriann wrote poetry like most people write shopping lists – quickly, precisely and often forgotten about only to be found some time later stashed in a book.
In her twenties, Kerriann’s speciality was plotting and writing the beginnings of novels. At least six handwritten chapters of a novel that was destined for greatness (Booker, Pulitzer and Nobel prize-winning stuff) disappeared during a house move. She is still optimistic they will turn up, although the quality of writing may have been exaggerated somewhat. At that time, Kerriann always seemed to have an excuse as to why she couldn’t write. Too busy or too tired.
These days she is more tired and busier than ever, but she makes the time. Kerriann’s writing habits are as eclectic as her reading tastes – she writes a mixture of short stories, flash fiction, historical fiction, magic realism, literary and children’s fiction.
Kerriann is a Search Engine Optimisation Specialist with an interest in Social Media and Content Marketing. When Kerriann isn’t writing about her imaginary friends, she’s speculating on Google Algorithm updates.
It’s not just fiction that Kerriann writes. With a background in journalism and wide-ranging interests, she often finds herself curating an odd mix of articles.
